The glabella is a common site for botulinum toxin injection. The primary muscles causing the glabellar lines are the corrugator supercilii, the procerus, and the depressor supercilii. To improve the glabellar lines, botulinum toxin is injected at three points in the glabellar region to relax these muscles. Sometimes, in patients with strong and large corrugator muscles, five injections points may be used. The most serious potential complication related with botulinum toxin injection for glabellar lines is upper eyelid ptosis. Other complications are medial brow elevation, facial asymmetry, etc.
